What we do

Four services, built around four client problems

Not a capability list, a sequence. Diagnose, resolve, implement, retain. Each step earns the next.

Core diagnostic

1 · Marketing Capability & Operations Audit

For leadership that can't see how marketing activity, customer journeys, people, suppliers, evidence and systems fit together, or what to fix first.

  • Executive diagnostic and evidence-qualified capability heatmap
  • Operating-model and decision-rights map
  • Systems, supplier and platform handoff overview
  • Prioritised 90-day action plan and 6–12 month roadmap
  • Executive readout, normally two to three weeks
Narrow diagnostic

2 · Focused Growth & Journey Review

For one bounded decision: an underperforming enquiry journey, location-page system, offer structure, website-to-booking handoff, reporting gap or platform transition.

  • Decision brief with a journey or systems map
  • Evidence and risk summary, recommended actions
  • Specialist or developer brief where relevant
  • Normally one to two weeks
Fixed term · 90 days

3 · 90-Day Marketing Implementation Program

For teams that know the priorities but lack the responsibility, cadence and supplier coordination to implement them reliably.

  • Implementation charter and prioritised work plan
  • Roles, decision rights, weekly operating cadence
  • Vendor briefs, dependency and risk management
  • Executive reporting, decision log, day-90 close-out
Recurring advisory

4 · Marketing Operations Adviser

For an internal owner or capable team that needs periodic senior judgement, prioritisation and escalation support, after the audit or program has proven the need.

  • Monthly planning and review, decision support
  • KPI and evidence review, roadmap maintenance
  • Supplier challenge, documented escalations
  • Initial three-month term, then quarterly review
How an engagement runs

Diagnose, decide, implement under control

Cainhill is an advisory and implementation-governance consultancy, not a full-service agency. We don't enter a retainer by default. Every transition requires a separate scope, commercial decision and capacity check.

Diagnose the marketing operation

Objectives and commercial alignment, customer journeys, brand, content, SEO and channel system, measurement, operating model, decision rights, platforms and handoffs, supplier roles, automation and AI-readiness.

Decide what to fix first

A prioritised 90-day action plan and a six-to-twelve-month roadmap, grounded in evidence-qualified findings, not a generic checklist or a promise of growth.

Implement under control

Cainhill leads governance and coordination. Client staff and named specialists perform the implementation, with briefs, acceptance criteria, a decision log and executive reporting at a fixed cadence.

Retain senior oversight, where the need is proven

Only after the audit or 90-day program evidences an ongoing senior-governance need does a recurring advisory arrangement enter scope.

Approach

Evidence-led. Practical rather than theatrical.

Conservative with evidence

We don't claim guaranteed growth, agency-scale delivery or outcomes we haven't demonstrated. What we can do is stated plainly; what we refer out is named before it's sold.

Confident about decisions

Each engagement produces a decision, what to fix first, in what order, and who owns it. A prioritised plan and a decision log, not a deck.

Respectful of what already works

The audit starts from your existing strengths, customers and operating reality, not from a template. What's working is mapped before it's changed.

Technically fluent, not an engineering firm

We bridge creative, marketing and technical contributors, writing the briefs, coordinating the specialists, governing the handoffs. We don't pretend to be the vendor.

Written scope, named specialists

Scope, exclusions, client responsibilities and change control in writing. Specialist input is named and costed before sale, not discovered in delivery.

Diagnosis quoted separately from implementation

You know what you're paying for at each stage. No bundled retainer by default, recurring advice only enters once the need is evidenced.

Founder

Peter Cain

Founder & Lead Consultant, Cainhill

Peter has spent two decades moving between hands-on creative and digital production (see Disparate Design, his creative studio) and senior national marketing leadership, a multidisciplinary progression that now sits behind Cainhill's diagnostic work.

That range is the point of the practice: the ability to bridge creative, marketing and technical contributors, to read how a marketing operation actually holds together, and to turn what he finds into a sequence of decisions a leadership team can act on.

Cainhill is founder-led and personally delivered. Specialist execution is coordinated through named partners and referred out where it's outside demonstrated competence, never disguised in-house.

  • National marketing leadership, multi-location campaign execution and cross-functional remits
  • Sustained digital marketing practice, organic growth, content, analytics and marketing operations
  • Marketing strategy and commercial direction, translating business goals into growth plans
  • Creative and front-end production, brand, design, print, web and multimedia since 2001
  • Systems and vendor coordination, platforms, handoffs, briefs and implementation governance
